Deep Tissue Massage
As the name suggests, this massage technique targets tissues located deep under the skin. A Deep Tissue Massage utilizes more pressure than the “traditional” Swedish massage many clients use for relaxation. Deep tissue focuses on those stiff “trouble spots” in the body brought on by stress, fatigue, and repetitive movement injuries. During a Deep Tissue session your massage therapist will use slow deliberate pressure, focusing on tissues deep to the superficial muscles. Although this type of massage is more intense, you shouldn’t experience pain or soreness.
Deep Tissue Massage is therapeutic. It relieves chronic patterns of tension brought on by your daily activities, athletics, and work schedule. A Deep Tissue session will greatly benefit anyone with acute or chronic muscular conditions like back pain, muscle strains, over-use syndromes, and general fatigue.
This gentle approach massage is meant to relieve compression in the bones of the spinal column, sacrum (lower back), and head. Craniosacral is a noninvasive therapy, utilizing light pressure to relieve pain caused by compression of the joints and soft tissues. This therapy works on the premise that manipulating bones in a targeted manner normalizes the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system. Craniosacral therapy is done in sessions dependent on your complaints, medical history, and how you respond to treatment.
Craniosacral enhances the body’s natural healing ability reducing pain, stress, and tension; while restoring cranial mobility and easing restrictions in other regions of the body. It is perfect for individuals of all ages and effective in treating conditions like: TMJ disorders, neck pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, sleep disturbances, IBS, and mood disorders. Craniosacral therapy may also be beneficial in trauma recovery and pregnancy.
When booking an appointment our “standard” massage therapy visit utilizes Swedish Massage Technique.
Swedish Massage Technique is undoubtedly the most common and popular type of massage utilized by all our providers, and sought out by clients looking for deep relaxation as well as a full body restoration. This technique guarantees you a gentle full-body massage experience perfect for individuals who may be new to massage, sensitive to touch, and/or have a great deal of stress or tension. The Swedish Massage Technique involves long soft kneading strokes coupled with light rhythmic tapping on the superficial muscle layers combing joint mobilization with light pressure.
A Swedish Massage is relaxing, restorative, and energizing. If this is your first time booking or are thinking of purchasing a massage as a gift, this is the perfect place to start. This type of massage can also help after injury or while managing minor pain after a strenuous workout.
Got spasms, low back pain, or sensitive painful injuries? Our Neuromuscular massage is for you. Neuromuscular Massage Technique targets painful spasming muscles addressing inadequate blood flow and range of motion, to increase flexibility while reducing pain. It is characterized by alternating levels of pressure using the fingers, knuckles or elbows to the targeted area. Each of our Neuromuscular Massage Therapists is highly trained to get you the maximum benefit while avoiding prolonged discomfort or further injury.
This type of massage is perfect for clients with chronic medical conditions as well as muscle injury. Neuromuscular massage can relieve pain related to TMJ disorders, heachaches, menstrual cramps, tendonitis, sciatica, and motor control issues related to Parkinson’s. If you have any questions about Neuromuscular massage please don’t hesitate to call or send us an email at email@example.com
City living can be tough on your mind and body. The perfect remedy to the hard worker bee is a massage that restores vitality, wellness, and soft tissue work. This is a multi-level/multi-faceted massage that incorporates a blend of Japanese Table Shiatsu, Acupressure, Reflexology, and Swedish massage. This unique combination of styles will encourage proper blood circulation and mobility to areas that are “guarded” and full of tension. A reYOUvenate session ends with an invigorating scalp, face and jaw massage to help clear the mind and offer you a moment of restorative healing from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Functional Development Technique
Functional Development technique has shown to connect the relationship between both the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. strengthening the efficiency of each through specific treatment stimuli. By strengthening the direct link between the two nervous systems a Functional Development massage can enhance the ability the body to perform vital daily functions like digestion and injury healing. Focus areas include the circulatory system, musculoskeletal system, regulation of inflammation, and pain reduction.
This treatment session is comprised of a full body massage that including passive and active stretching, centralized around traction of the joints for proper fluid return, as well as trigger point release. Traction, which consists of a gentle pull of limbs, creates adequate spacing for the joint system to articulate with ease and without discomfort. In turn traction increases range of motion and flexibility to foster a pliable, pain-free body when the client leaves the office.
Structural Bodywork is a soft tissue therapy derived from the “Rolfing” technique originally patented by Ida Rolf. This technique looks at the body as a whole to address muscle length imbalances, mechanical compensations due to injury, compression of joints, and inflammatory conditions causing the body to over-react to its own healing process. Our providers utilize deep consistent pressure over a period of time to gently approach restricted tissues, continuously adjusting as the body reacts to treatment. Structural Bodywork is a functional, systemic, and progressive approach to healing that may include a series of sessions to address the bodily changes that arise after releasing a restricted muscle group.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
At TTW we perform many soft tissue therapies in a single session including Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), passive stretching, Cross Friction Massage, and Post-Isometric Relaxation (PIR).
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a modern evolution of the traditional Chinese medicine Gusha. It is performed using ergonomically designed instruments which detect and treat soft tissue restrictions as the provider glides the tool over the skin. The tool enables the provider to quickly and effectively locate restricted tissues and treat areas of fibrosis, degeneration, and chronic inflammation. This therapy is perfect for motion-related issues (limited range or pain during movement), muscle recruitment, and motor control issues.
Clinical studies show that IASTM can improve range of motion, strength, and overall perception of pain after treatment; making it an ideal treatment for athletic injuries and repetitive motion disorders. Learn more about IASTM here.

Active Release Techniques (ART)
ART is a patented massage technique combining movement and manipulation to boost circulation; and promote faster healing of the muscle, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. It is commonly used to treat injuries/conditions whose underlying cause is damage to the body’s major muscle groups and/or fibrous connective tissue (the dense protective network of fascia supporting organs and muscles throughout the body).
There are multiple benefits to ART including increased flexibility, decreased pain, and improved athletic performance. It is also useful in treating repetitive stress injuries such as plantar fasciitis, shin splints, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, and even sciatica symptoms. ART can also be impactful in assessing/treating nerve entrapment and joint capsular dysfunction. An ART session begins with your provider manually evaluating tissues for textural change (i.e. scar tissue/adhesions ) and aberrant movement (i.e. decreased range of motion), followed by a customized treatment protocol specific to the involved tissue.
In addition to being a part of our standard massage services, Reflexology is a great option for patients who may be uncomfortable being touched, or undressing. Many reflexology techniques can be performed while the client is fully clothed or in addition to our other massage techniques.
Known for its minimalistic approach, Reflexology is a unique type of massage that utilizes specialized thumb, finger, and hand techniques and gentle to firm pressure to stimulate points on the ears, hands, and feet which correspond to other areas of the body. This massage is excellent for individuals looking to relax as well as restore natural energy levels.
Made famous by Michael Phelps’ deep purple “dots” in the 2016 Rio Olympics; Cupping is an ancient, but effective Chinese technique used in massage therapy. Utilizing special “cups” that are applied directly to the skin, a vacuum is created lightly pulling the soft issues outward (as opposed to the inward pressure of a traditional massage). The vacuum created by the cups draws circulating blood to the area and gently holds the tissues in a sustained micro stretch, increasing healing in the tissues and reducing muscle tension.
Cupping therapy reduces pain, inflammation, boosts blood flow, and promotes relaxation. In fact, the therapy can double up as deep-tissue massage. According to research, cupping has been found to help with pain management, herpes zoster, facial paralysis and acne among many other ailments. Researchers, however, stress on the importance of effective application. Are therapists are unmatched in skill and experienced while applying this fantastic technique.
All massage packages are customized to meet the individual needs of each client, pairing you with a massage provider who’s skills and specialties perfectly reflect your care plan.
