Holistic therapy is a special type of treatment that focuses on healing the body in entirety, i.e. the mind, body, spirit as well as emotions in a quest for optimal health and wellness. The main goal of holistic therapy is gaining proper balance in all areas of life, something which has been proven to promote ultimate health and wellness.

Imbalances in one’s physical, emotional or spiritual life hurt one’s overall health. Although holistic therapy tends to downplay western medicine, treatment can involve conventional medication coupled with alternative therapies. Medication can be administered; however, potential factors causing illness such as diet, sleeping habits, stress, personal problems, preferred spiritual practices, etc. are looked at as part of the treatment process. In a nutshell, drugs can be used to relieve symptoms; however, lifestyle modifications must be considered to heal and stop the re-occurrence of illnesses.

Homeopathy is administered using small amounts of natural plants and minerals known to stimulate natural healing. The therapy is commonly used to treat allergies, depression, migraines, and rheumatoid arthritis among other minor ailments like headaches, nausea, colds, and coughs.

Naturopathy is a holistic therapy that utilizes natural remedies to assist the body in healing itself. The therapy is different from homeopathy in that it embraces multiple therapies such as massage, use of natural herbs, acupuncture and nutritional counseling to help the body heal itself faster naturally.

Chiropractic care focuses on diagnosing and treating mechanical musculoskeletal system disorders (especially spine disorders). The therapy involves manual manipulation of soft tissues and joints by hand to treat back and neck pain-related ailments. The therapy can treat back pain, joint pain, non-musculoskeletal conditions, sprains, tendonitis and headaches among many other ailments.

Exercise is considered a holistic therapy since being physically fit has been proven to boost a person’s health naturally. Exercise is crucial for optimal health and wellness since it boosts the body’s metabolism, a process which helps to process food faster and ensure all bodily systems are working effectively.

Metabolism is a complex process involving complex enzymes and hormones that not only transform food into “fuel” but also dictates how efficiently you use the “fuel”.
